Is Counseling Right For Me?

Is Counseling Right For Me?

Asking For Help Is Strength

Individuals seeking counseling exhibit an amazing level of courage. These are the people that end up being some of the strongest individuals out there. These are the problem solvers, the go getters, the confidants, the success stories and the inspirational people we always hear about. These are the people that ask for help when they know they need it and work through the challenges of their lives without giving in to outside social pressure of “fighting through it.” It's a wonder why more people don't take advantage of counseling, coaching or consulting services.

Unfortunately, many people still see asking for help as a “weakness.” There's no need to feel ashamed or “weak” in seeking help. In fact, most find they are able to access more strength and are able to not only carry on in their lives but excel. Those seeking counseling are looking for resolution or relief from pain they feel or struggle they deal with. It's human nature to want to find happiness and counseling is a great avenue to pursue that happiness.

Coming in for counseling or consulting for the first time can be daunting and you might find yourself coming up with all kinds of questions like:

What can I expect? How will it benefit me? How can I trust my counselor? Do I even need counseling? What if it doesn't work? What if people judge me?

Counseling isn't necessarily for everyone, but a great way to figure out if your counselor, or counseling in general, is right for you is to just ask!
